How fast data reaches you: streaming, web pages, downloads. 25 Mbps is enough for one 4K stream; households with several people are happier with 100 Mbps or more.
Upload
How fast you send data: video calls, cloud backups, posting videos, livestreaming. 10 Mbps keeps HD calls smooth; creators and home workers benefit from 20 Mbps or more.
Ping & jitter
Ping is the round-trip time to the server; jitter is how much it varies. Under 30 ms ping and under 10 ms jitter feel instant in games and calls.
Bufferbloat
Extra lag while your connection is busy. A poor grade means games and calls stutter whenever someone else downloads or uploads. Enabling SQM / Smart Queue on your router usually fixes it.

How accurate is this speed test?
We measure against Cloudflare's edge network, which is in 330+ cities and usually a few milliseconds away. We use several parallel connections, discard the ramp-up period and also measure latency under load (bufferbloat), so results reflect what streaming, gaming and video calls actually experience.
What is ping and jitter?
Ping (latency) is how long a tiny message takes to reach the server and come back. Jitter is how much that time varies. Low ping and low jitter make games and video calls feel instant; under 30 ms is excellent, over 100 ms is noticeable.
What is bufferbloat?
Bufferbloat is extra delay that appears when your connection is busy, for example when someone uploads photos while you play a game. We measure ping while downloading and uploading and grade the increase from A+ to F. A router with SQM or "smart queue" settings can fix a bad grade.
Why is my speed lower than what I pay for?
Wi-Fi is the most common cause: walls, distance and interference can cut speed by half or more. Test on a cable if you can, close other apps and downloads, restart the router, and test at different times of day. If a wired test is still far below your plan, contact your provider with your results.
How much data does a speed test use?
Roughly 20 to 400 MB depending on your speed; faster connections move more data in the same few seconds. We show exactly how much each test used.
