What we show you, and don't keep

Your IP address, internet provider, approximate location and connection details come from Cloudflare, which runs this site. They are sent only to your browser and are not written to any database or log that we keep.

What we store

• Speed test results: download, upload, ping, jitter, your country, your internet provider's name and network number (ASN), and the Cloudflare data center used. No IP address, no city, no device details. These power the rankings and comparisons.
• Problem reports: which service, which problem, your country and the time.
• Spam protection: to count each person only once, we store a one-way, salted hash of your IP combined with the current hour (reports) or ten-minute window (speed tests). The hash can't be turned back into an IP address and differs every hour. Results are kept for 90 days and reports for 30 days.

Stored only in your browser

Your speed test history, connection monitor log, theme choice and settings are saved in your browser's local storage. They never leave your device and you can clear them at any time from the page or your browser settings.

Requests to other services

To answer your questions, your browser contacts a few other services directly:

• ipify.org, to detect your IPv4 and IPv6 addresses separately.
• stun.cloudflare.com, for the WebRTC leak test.
• The websites you check (for example youtube.com), to test whether they're reachable from your connection, plus google.com, bing.com, wikipedia.org and 1.1.1.1 for the connection check.
• OpenStreetMap, only if you press "Show on map".

Like any website, those services see your IP address when your browser contacts them.

Analytics

We may use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without tracking you across sites.
